THE VANCOUVER ACES BASKETBALL PROGRAM is a non-profit, community-based, minimal-cost basketball program affiliated with the Vancouver Secondary Schools Athletics Association (VSSAA) for girls in grade 6 to 12, prioritizing the Vancouver South/Central community with the aim of reducing financial barriers in providing opportunities for female athletes to stay involved in sports through basketball.  Skills development as well as competitive opportunities in game/tournament play is offered to athletes at generally the U15/U18 levels from October to mid-November (fall sessions), and from April to mid-July (spring/summer session).

“Rise to every occasion, give our best effort, and make those around us better as we do it.”
– John Wooden

Participants from beginner to advanced are welcome, with opportunities available for the more advanced in a competitive stream of games and tournaments.  The program priority includes providing equitable opportunities to those in the local demographic area and/or in financial need.

Through volunteerism, donations, sponsorship, and individual participant support/grants, the aim is to minimize or, if needed, to waive fees.  The program philosophy is to remove financial barriers and improve access and equity for local area girls to participate in quality developmental and competitive sport opportunities. Vancouver Aces Basketball is extremely grateful for the support of organizations like KIDSPORT and CLICK for their generous support of youth athletes.

In addition to playing the sport of basketball, the Vancouver Aces Basketball Program also seeks to provide opportunities in areas of volunteerism, leadership, sport management, coaching development and mentorship, with the goal of developing skills and core values that will enable and empower females in sport and recreation.

The Vancouver Aces Basketball Program is honoured to be a recipient of the 2019 City of Vancouver Community Sports Champions Awards as part of the 2019 Women Deliver Conference,  receiving a grant that has greatly assisted the program towards meeting its objectives of reducing financial barriers and increasing access for participants. FINANCIAL DONATIONS

Individuals or Organizations interested in supporting the VSSAA Vancouver Aces Basketball Program with a financial contribution are encouraged to contact the program at vancouveracesbballclub@gmail.com. Donations are put towards costs for students in need as a first priority and then towards program costs (equipment, entry fees) next. Our personnel – from coaches to directors – are all unpaid volunteers sharing the same goals of equitable sport access and opportunities for youth in sports. Donations of any sort (funds, product, equipment, services) help us in offering our programming to meet these goals.
